After years of playing sports, Marquis has learned that a person must first win within the mind before earning a championship title. Winning within the mind involves learning to regulate emotions, developing skills to manage unhelpful thoughts, and acquiring the ability to coexist in stressful situations without making poor decisions. Marquis is passionate about supporting individuals in finding their inner peace and healing from past experiences. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from Arkansas State University Jonesboro and a Master of Social Work from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, and he is currently licensed as a Certified Social Worker.
As a mental health professional, Marquis is certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and trained in Internal Family Systems, Grief-Informed therapy, and Anger Management. He commonly employs mindfulness exercises, behavioral therapy, humanistic therapy, solution-focused therapy, and role-playing in his practice.
Marquis takes pride in his commitment to continuous learning and staying up-to-date with the latest evidence-based treatment theoretical frameworks, always meeting individuals where they are. He has worked with juveniles facing charges from probation revocation and sex offenses, as well as individual teens with murder charges. His clientele includes school-aged children and adults dealing with concerns related to Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Anxiety Disorder, Depressive Disorder, and Trauma-Related Stressor Disorder.
In addition, he has assisted adults and families grappling with Anxiety Disorder, Depressive Disorder, Trauma-Related Stressor Disorder, relationship issues, low self-esteem, parenting challenges, grief treatment, and premarital therapy.

Shelby believes that relationships are the greatest resource individuals possess. Her hope for her clients is that they can invest in themselves and their healing, allowing them to create and maintain the important relationships in their lives. Healing can manifest as a greater capacity for loving others, the freedom to pursue long-deferred dreams, or simply gaining an understanding of the parts of oneself that have been overshadowed by trauma, anxiety, or depression.
She understands that finding the right therapist is not always easy, and attending therapy appointments can feel daunting. The work of healing may not always feel good at the beginning. Shelby's approach to therapy acknowledges these challenges through trauma-informed, empathetic, holistic, and judgment-free methods.
She focuses on harnessing the resources and resilience that clients already possess to empower and strengthen the areas of their lives that need support. Whether individuals are seeking healing, growth, clarity, or adjusting to a new normal, Shelby utilizes her experience with evidence-based modalities to address the unique challenges presented in each session.
